Women’s Health Services Network: Victorian 2026 state election platform
Women’s health is at a critical juncture.
Victoria has made significant progress through sustained investment in women’s health, strengthening access to care, prevention, health promotion and gender equality initiatives across the state. Maintaining and building on this progress will require continued investment in the services and infrastructure that support women's health, wellbeing and safety.
This platform sets out our priorities to protect progress and reform, strengthen access, and ensure every woman and gender-diverse person can access the care they need. By continuing to invest, Victoria will continue to lead the nation in women’s health and ensure no person is left behind.
We are calling on all parties to commit to these two priorities ahead of the 2026 election.
ask 1: secure sustained investment in women’s health infrastructure
Long-term funding is critical to support Victoria’s leading women’s health infrastructure and the services that operate within it. This includes women’s health services, clinics, and specialist programs that improve health and wellbeing.
Beyond clinical care, this infrastructure supports health promotion, primary prevention and gender equality initiatives that address the underlying drivers of poor health outcomes.
Without ongoing and expanded financial investment, funding for this infrastructure will lapse in June 2027, placing health equity at risk.
ask 2: Investment to build a statewide navigation service for women’s health
Victoria urgently needs a statewide service navigation platform to ensure every woman and gender diverse person can find the right care at the right time.
Existing healthcare navigation models such as 1800 My Options demonstrate the value of a coordinated, centralised approach to providing reliable health information and referral through a mix of digital, telephone, outreach, mobile and place-based navigation services.
A statewide single point of entry would help address current gaps in navigation, access and coordination across Victoria
